I would suggest just rebooting your cable modem. Could work.

My connection was far better when it was 2MB. It's now more like dial up.

Same here, my connection is now loads worse than it was before the upgrade. My upload has doubled, but my download is now half what it used to be.
Before the upgrade i had a really good 2mb connection, most of the time i would get slightly above 2mb in speed tests, so in theory if i had a good 2mb connection i should have a good 4mb connection also.
Well dissapointed, id rather it stayed as it was.

Re: Speed upgrade??????

I used to get a reliable 1M - then I was upgraded to "up to 8M" and now I only get ~500k. My supplier is looking into it, but I'm not hopeful. I've heard you can ask to be put back onto the "slower" speed if you want. I may need to do that.

Re: Speed upgrade??????

if you've not seen the other thread about lack of 'upgrade' speed have a look round for it
Seems there are some issues depending if you run one of the software firewalls

I had same thing could only get 2.8 ish on my upto 4mb line - removed zone alarm, now up to 3.9 !!!
Trying others now
Sunbelt Keio4 I found even worse - down to .8mb !!

This thread I meant

Re: Speed upgrade??????

Yeah, im using free zonealarm latest version, i tried uninstalling and went on net for a speed test and im getting anything from 1.7MB to 2.3MB.
Is there something else i have to do after uninstalling? I also have AVG Free Edition and a popup stopper running, could they possibly be causing the slow speeds?

Re: Speed upgrade??????

Just uninstalling ( and re-booting) ZoneAlarm worked fine for me - I also have AVG loaded but of course it only runs once per day so overhead there I would say.
popup stopper - maybe ?
Ask in that other thread, they know more about it than I

Very erratic here. It goes up and down. Very sluggish since the alleged upgrade...
