Re: Speed test results

best kind of speedtest is downloading something big from either microsoft (SP2) or from ftp://mirror.ac.org.uk and get a nice iso from there (all linux products free) with a fast transfer. I got a 10 meg connection and download from the ftp at around 1.2MB/Sec

Re: Speed test results

I'm also on a 2Mb connection:

Sat, 25 Feb 2006 15:32:53 UTC

1st 512K took 2219 ms = 230.7 KB/sec, approx 1901 Kbps, 1.86 Mbps
2nd 512K took 2156 ms = 237.5 KB/sec, approx 1957 Kbps, 1.91 Mbps
3rd 512K took 2172 ms = 235.7 KB/sec, approx 1942 Kbps, 1.9 Mbps
4th 512K took 2172 ms = 235.7 KB/sec, approx 1942 Kbps, 1.9 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 1936 Kbps, 1.89 Mbps

I guess just like ADSL you get a small loss!

Correct any lower than 1900 I would start thinking about calling ntl up if it goes longer than a day or so.

Re: Speed test results

I wouldn't wast your time calling NTL up, they will just say it is an up to 2MB service and put the phone down on you!

240 bits or bytes? If it's bytes, it would be about right for a 2 meg connection.

I see no reason to complain. 1932 kbps is about 95% of 2 meg. I'd say those results are spot on for a 2 meg service.
