Hi i have the ntl 2meg service through a stb i would like to upgrade to 10meg is a cable modem better than my stb which is a samsung and only as i understand goes up to 5meg max.Regards

Correct you will require a ntl:250 modem.

However, ATM you will have to pay a £50 charge to have an additional SACM installed. Hopefully this is just a temporary measure. You can sometimes get one, though, by ringing CS and threatening to hold your breath until your face goes blue and leave ntl.

I was lucky enough to get a free modem a while back when I wanted to upgrade from 1Mb to 2Mb - I had a Pace box which couldn't do 2Mb, and the Samsung boxes were in very short supply, so they offered me an additional cable modem instead. Got an NTL: 250 - think I did well there!
