Insanely Hi Connection Speeds!
 - yes your reading this right! Since installing Firefox to replace IE ive been getting download speeds well in excess of the 2mb standards.. yes miracles do happen!

Are you not seeing speeds reported in Kbps rather than Kb/sec which is how IE reports speeds? (for example on a 2MB link you would expect to see around 220kb/sec in an Ie download perhaps)
There is no way firefox, or any other application is going to be able to recieve data any quicker than any other?

FireFox will start a download before you push the go button, Something to do with the caching on the page.

Ive only been on NTL a few days (1MB) but I seem to always get about the same...

I doubt thats true, surfing the web(maybe). But i cant see firefox helping a lot,unless firefox downloads in segments like 'getright'??

Cant say I make a habbit of lying, but hey I dont easily offend
Maybe its just pure coincidence that the speeds started flicking all over the place right at the sametime I installed FireFox.... I aint complaining thats for sure.

firefox=browser browser=inaccurate way of measuring speeds. Try downloading over ftp or nntp and see what you get then.

Chris, what download speeds was it reporting? Also try the Speed test on the forum navbar and paste your results here.

NNTP and FTP = inaccurate also dependant on external sources
