Re: ntl Christmas Card

You think they're being generous? I think they're trying to cling onto customers.

£34.99 is still at least a fiver too much. I'd be amazed if it's still above £30 in a year's time. They've done their sums:

revenue = (subscribers) x (price each)

If the price is too high then the subscribers reduce, so revenue drops. They're trying to find that sweet spot of maximum cash extraction!

Re: ntl Christmas Card

ADSL 2+ is nothing like as fragile as the doubters like to say. It works, and it's fairly robust. Yes, the speed does reduce as you move further away from the exchange, but it's not a sudden drop to 56k if you're a street away! It gradually reduces over distance.

So not many will get 24Mb (if any). However, a lot of people will be able to get faster than 10Mb. And it's cheaper than NTL. I'll probably give it a try next year, when they enable my exchange (after I've read some reviews of it). It's the upload speed that really appeals to me.

£25 is probably a sensible price for the NTL 10Mb service. We'll have to wait and see as competition develops.

Re: ntl Christmas Card

Free broadband plus, except it doesnt work...
£37.99 on the bill, even though I was quoted £34.99 on phone..

Ho-hum, lets see what happens 3 months after the offical release of 10Mb, it might be half way sorted by then.
I have very little faith in NTL's online billing, etc as according to them I dont have an ntl phone number or phone line and cant get cable. Funny how they manage to bill be for it all though...

Maybe they should also rename boradband plus to popup plus........

Don't forget that you will get 10 Meg for £24.99 if you only want a 30GB monthly limit, or £17.99 for a 3GB limit (when the upgrades are finished next year).

Re: ntl Christmas Card

Not another 10mb thread thank you very much. The Christmas Card was being discussed here a couple of days ago.
