NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
All i read about is 10Mb upgrades blah blah blah. What i want NTL to do is concentrate on the integrity and throughput of its existing network which services its existing loyal customer base instead of continually producing flag waving headlines about speed upgrades and introductory offers for new customers. In the last month or so the service in my area has been variable. I've been cut off a few times ,no one seeks or offers to compensate me for loss of service (South Manchester). The speed and throughput is going downhill especially at peak periods.
I am on the 1 MB service for 17.99 pm. Quite honestly its enough to pay and i doubt that my 1MB link is fully utilised most of the time. The way i see it,its all marketing. Theres no point in sticking out a big hand (10mb) if theres nothing to catch (no throughput). NTL i dont want your extra speed. I want my existing service to be maintained to a good standard and i want the service i already pay for.

Re: NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
The previous ocupent of the flat I live in had BB 300k. When NTL upgraded all the customers to 1MB she got a letter that said she could "opt out"
So You could keep 300k unlimited v 1mb 3gb D/L Limit.
Not sure if NTL will do the same if NTL will offer this again if they are offering everyone 10mb with difernt D/L Limits....
...and this is before the prospect of price "normalisation" between us (NTL Customers) and them (Telewest Customers) but that could be good as Im sure thats why the TopTer (was 3mb now 10) has had the £2 discount!

No such thing as a price cut, they just up the price on another product to compensate for the deduction on another.
Hense the price increase on the phone services in january!

Re: NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
Will be interesting to see what happens with BT up the basic line rental to £11 a month tho.
Will NTL stay at £10.50, go up to £11, or down to the £9.99 offered by talktalk and onetel? (I know that is only avalable to BT lines, but im refuring to that as a COST not a SERVICE)

The service has no guarantee apart from that any loss of service over 24 hours is compensated with a refund of the rental paid for lost service.
If you are having speed issues consult with technical support rather than posting here, ntl won't automatically credit you for loss of service unless you tell them about it - no telco will.

Re: NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
Ignition just wondered are we in a similar state as a few years ago, just the forum seems busy with poor browsing .
Proxies switched off in manc again
Remember they signed up loads of customers and the network could not take it .
They also got rid of many service techs

Re: NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
when i was a customer i was looked after- I started with 1meg for £34.99, then went to £37.99. Then got free upgrade to 1.5meg, then another free upgrade to 3meg. I felt more looked after than i do with my slow, unreliable 512k adsl connection! I guess i should ring virgin and complain but tech support is 50ppm

Re: NTL-Hey lets upgrade speeds and stuff existing customers
I think the top tier should have stayed at 37.99 or even gone up to a higher price and for the customers who pay for it offer a 100gig cap QoS prioritised traffic over the congested routers and proxyless traffic. Its another example of ntl wanting to go the budget route and charge less for a minimum service instead of more for a better service which could fund upgrades.

So Warez kiddy number 2 paying for his 10mbit and burning his line should get priority over those who have lower speeds because they dont need 10mbit ultra fast broadband.. when 2mbps is good enough for VOD...
Considering they would get priority might fark things up for other legitimate users who stream music/videos, etc...

But at some time in the future you going to get a 10 meg connection. if you want it or not it wont matter if your on 1 or 2 meg now by the end of next year youll be on what you dont want 10 meg

You labeling everyone on the top tier as warez kiddies? need to watch what you say dude end of day if you want to pay less thats up to you, but some people will pay more their own reasons whatever it may be.
Of course my 25 gig usage over the last 30 days I have burned my line so much I have had to smother it in ice
