10mbit not so fast ?
Mon, 28 Nov 2005 22:46:50 UTC
1st 128K took 125 ms = 1048576 Bytes/sec = approx 8724 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 125 ms = 1048576 Bytes/sec = approx 8724 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 125 ms = 1048576 Bytes/sec = approx 8724 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 125 ms = 1048576 Bytes/sec = approx 8724 kbits/sec
now i know i should not complain but its not 10megabit, also i can only seem to get 300kb/s off the microsoft servers, when i was on 3mbit i could max out at 360kb/s so something is wrong somewhere, ive sat on the problem since i upgraded but it seems not to get better, should i just wait until january ?

i was formerly a 3mbit customer, so i assume if the network around my area has not had its upgrades yet thats why im suffering slow speeds.

i forced the upgrade by ringing up and asking for it, luckily i got it but we all know what NTL are like, sometimes things arent ready and are pushed out earlier.

Re: 10mbit not so fast ?
Most of NTL's network is ready for UPTO 10meg, but remember its always going to be UPTO 10meg.

Re: 10mbit not so fast ?
didnt i read somewhere in another thread that you have a Terajet 210 modem ?
If so.. thats the problem... Only a 10mbit ethernet port on the network interface on the modem... I have the same issue here.. get 8 to 8.5mbit from mine... Ive not approached the subject with NTL yet.
PS: I seem to have been upgraded to 10mbit without even asking, I only enquired as to when it would be available, about a week ago and hey presto i'm now on it Yippee!
