I cant prove it, but im sure someone here on this forum has looked at the white paper and it only has a tuner capable of four up and four down, according to said white paper.

Either way, if it was possible, i can't see VM even bothering with it since the R36 firmware is having good vibes.

What you mean here, where I said it's capable of 15.75 down?

Re: Lincoln 100mb 7 downstream channels

According to data sheets the Microtune 2170 tuner supports upto 16 6MHz channels or 12 8MHz channels.

The Upstream amp 1570 supports 4 channels.

The TI Puma 5 Processor supports 8x4... so it does seem possible it can do 8 chans

Wishful thinking though because in the words of VM, its "obsolete". It won't happen, which is a shame.

Do you honestly think that will happen considering that they are no longer supplied, if it was your business you know that you would not waste money on that modem.

The money would be better spent visiting the Motorola factory to see how decent kit is made.

But in reality we know that will never happen and everyone will have to suffer with 3rd rate equipment as I doubt anyone at Virgin Media will ever own up to this fiasco.

That will not give it 8 downstreams and they are unlikely ever to bother as the must not be many left on the network in comparison to the Superhub, which was and will always be the second mistake made in purchasing a flagship device unless a back hander was involved as no sane person would pick trash over mainstream equipment in use by millions worldwide unless some kind of incentive changed hands, that can be the only logical reason as no one can be that stupid.

Re: Lincoln 100mb 7 downstream channels

Upstream bonding is far harder to implement and requires far more work than 8 channels downstream

It still does not mean it will ever be implemented and as per my previous post they could and should have got it right first time with a mainstream product not a committee designed piece of rubbish on two counts especially when you know what devices they tested alongside and never bought.

Just because you think otherwise doesn't mean it won't either.
