iomega nas drive 1T superhub

Hi The nice Virgin man just came round and installed the super hub.
Now i cant access the iomega nas drive 1T drive.

i have turned off the firewall on the hub and i did it on my computer for a while just to see if it was that i and i still cant connect.

UPnP is turned on on the hub
port scan detection is turned off
IP flood detection is turned off

any help gratefully received

How's it all connected?

What was your IP subnet before the SH was fitted and what is it now?

How does the NAS get it's IP address. If static what is it set to?

Re: iomega nas drive 1T superhub

When i Load the iomega storage manager it says that the ip is set to 192.168.1.250
other than that I cant remember and didnt make a note of if it was dynamic or static ip.
it is connected via cable to the sh then wireless to my laptop
I feel like when i was at uni and lost all my work for the year

Re: iomega nas drive 1T superhub

Can you connect to the NAS directly via a crossover cable.?

Then use the iomega storage manager to find the NAS and get all the details, or possibly reconfigure to suit the IP addressing of the S'Hub.?

OK.

Best thing to do is change the NAS address to be 192.168.0.250 using storage manager.

Or change the SH IP address to 192.168.1.0

The reason you can't access your NAS is it is on a different subnet to your PC

The SH subnet is 192.168.0.0/24
The NAS is probably on 192.168.1.0/24

You need to restart the PC after the changes to the SH so that it picks up a new IP address.

Re: iomega nas drive 1T superhub

Your NAS is on the wrong subnet if it's 192.168.1.250. By default the Superhub uses the 192.168.0. range. It sounds like it must be on a static IP for some reason. You need to either change the Superhub to use the 192.168.1 range which I know is possible as I did it when I had one or change the NAS which you'd need to do by setting your PC to an IP in the 192.168.1 range manually, plugging it into the NAS using any old ethernet cable you like (crossover cables are so last century) and getting into its web config page - assuming it has one but if not that iomega program sounds favourite.

Oops - looks like I was typing while somebody elseposted. At least we agree

---------- Post added at 18:02 ---------- Previous post was at 17:54 ----------

Ok I apologies in pure frustration after it not working and kicking it a bit. i turned the drive on and off again and I can now see it all drives and backups still there.

Many thanks for your patience and big hugs to you all.

Re: iomega nas drive 1T superhub

To avoid this issue in future you should see if the NAS can be set to use DHCP - I would have thought that would be the default as it is for most consumer kit - that way if you decide at some point you'd like a proper router instead of the Superhub and put it in modem mode you won't go through this pain again if your new router uses a different default from the 192.168.1 you're using now.

I suspect in truth you may have only needed to reset it in the first place because I can't believe it doesn't default to DHCP but then again maybe it doesn't...
