Upload speed issues

Hi

I've been having problems with my upload speed for the past 4 days. At random times of the day and night my upload dies and I have nothing on the upload side of things for a few hours. My download speed is always fine and remains the full 10M I have always had so I'm able to browse the internet but with slow loading. I'm unable to game online at all due to the loss of upload and I'm clueless to why I'm suddenly losing upload speeds.
I'm definatly not hitting any sort of caps on the upload side of things that would cause a reduced upload speed, I just get a total loss of upload for some unknown reason.

I've not had any issues for a long time until last week when my internet, and tv went down, but that was a problem with Virgin which was fixed.

I'm in the Leeds area and I'm wanting to know whether theres a problem with my line or if it's a problem with Virgin in my area. I have tried phoning Virgin to find out about any faults but haven't had any indication there's a problem in ym area now like there was last week.

Yeh already tried this everyday for the last 5 days. It checks the download speed fine but the upload speed fails to connect and the test ends with the message "Upload Test Error, upload test returned an error while trying to read the upload file".

I just find it remarkable that I haven't had a problem for a long time and straight after Virgin had issues and fixed it last week this happens to me, it must be related right?
They also seem to have problems every time they try to upgrade everyone as well.

It's been worse today, my upload has disappeared for longer and hasn't returned yet.

Re: Upload speed issues

ironically it is your downstream which is screwed up. The power is defo too low, the lowest it should be is -3 and your snr is smack on the border for being too low and could do with being higher. Time to ring tech suppport dude and get an engineer out. They need to move your tap point in the cab.

I've had a problem before where the upload was 61.0 dBmV, which was too high and an engineer fixed the problem over a year ago. I have always had -7.9 dBmV or 8.0 dBmV ever since with no problems. I know it probably should be higher like your stating but it must be something else.

Re: Upload speed issues

well Seph will have to tell you what the down side to your downstream power being too low but it still aint right. Upstream is fine, if i remember correctly you dont want it to be more than 58 so your previous levels of 61 was too high.

Yea, thx for all the help.

I thought the engineer should have improved my downstream levels last time anyways.

Re: Upload speed issues

I'm in Glasgow & am experiencing the exact same problem. Download is fine (20mb, free upgrade from 10mb at end of April) but upload is dire. Just started happening a few days ago. Thought at first they were just upgrading upload speed but it has been going on now for a few days & has become really annoying. Internet is almost unusable, with web pages taking ages to respond...
