cctv

Hi there. I have virgin broadband 50mb package with D-link dir-615..
(would I be better with the superhub ?) router.
I wish to have to IP cameras accessible from the internet, through said equipment without a pc having to be on. And can I upload images/ video from the cameras to an online backup site either free or otherwise.

Cheers

Re: cctv

Either way will work. You certainly don't need a Superhub to do that and in fact port forwarding on it is an area that is both messy (reboots after every change) and has at least one bug - forwarding "both" tcp and udp stops respond to wan ping from working which is no real big deal but suggests that area of the firmware code isn't too hot.

The other place the Superhub could be deficient is that there is no support for dynamic dns services but my IP cam already has that so possibly not an issue plus the VM IPs are quite sticky and change only rarely.

Re: cctv

No I've never done any firmware - I used to work on IBM mainframes. I did various stuff and my last contract was as a DBA but I retired at the end of January.

Re: cctv

and cross-posted.
That said I've used VOIP on the Superhub with two different ATAs with no problem. Not that one though and I have seen other people claiming issues. All you can do is suck it and see.
