STM Speed stuck at the restricted speed

morning all,

I upgraded my broadbean to 100 meg two weeks back and usually getting high 90's speed. In the middle of last week I overshot the download limit detailed in the STM and had my speed reduced to 50%. I had gone a little crazy with the downloading and did expect it.

Reading the STM policy it seems the STM should reset after 5 hours, but mine is still currently limited to 50meg. I have tried resetting the superhub and my PC but the problem persists.

If i try the BT speed test or speedtest.net my speed is dead on 50meg everytime, and similarly if i have a newsgroup download the speed is right on the 50meg with very little fluctuation (and never going over). Which is why i think its the STM still stuck and not just usual variation in speed.

I have read though the foum but can find anyone posting with the same problem. Anyone else had this? or know how to fix it?

Thanks
Rumple

ps
I know i wrote "broadbean" instead of "broadband", but the typo amused me so thought i'd leave it for other peoples pleasure. In fact I would like virgin to rebrand their entire internet service as broadbean in the name of amusement.

No I have not, what should I be looking at or for?

EDIT:
I found the following speed listed in my superhub setting
53000000 b/s
which calculates quite well into 50meg

does this mean i have been downgraded back to 50, or does the HUB read lower when you exceed the STM

Either way I guess i will need to take some time and call VM tommorow.

Thanks for the pointer General maximus

You will indeed, the amount you are provisioned for does not change if you are stm'd so somehow you have been downgraded back to 50.

ya, time to ring up and moan your ass off. A 100mbit config looks like this:

Primary Downstream Service Flow
SFID : 8391
Max Traffic Rate : 110000000 bps
Max Traffic Burst : 10000 bytes
Min Traffic Rate : 0 bps
Primary Upstream Service Flow
SFID : 8390
Max Traffic Rate : 10250000 bps
Max Traffic Burst : 16320 bytes
Min Traffic Rate : 0 bps
Max Concatenated Burst : 16320 bytes
Scheduling Type : Best Effort

Don't let them fob you off and tell you they have fixed it and it will take "up to 24 hours" to come through. If they fix it their end they force a shub reboot to download the new config and it is immediate.
