10M download speeds at night

every night im only getting 2mb download when im paying for 10mb , its making bbc iplayer unwatchable and when i try to ring vm its all automated and i can never get through , ive checked service status and it says good service , has anyone the number where i can talk to a human being , to complain or do i have to move to sky ? thanks

is it always 2meg or do you get more? which VM modem have you got?

its only 2meg at night usually. during the day its just below 10 , and we are usin the virgin hb , also its a new pc with I7 chip and has no viruses or anything to slow it down , so its definately a vm problem , but i can never get through to vm and i dont have a vm phone .

I have never had any probs downloading over night and if i do need to download anything huge then I wait for the night because I know I am going to get full speed. You won't be able to get hold of tech support if you have been trying to ring them during the night, I think they go home at 2200

its not overnight , its after tea untill i go to bed , and can never get through to anyone and eventually put phone down after 30min

It's congestion then and you will be wasting your time phoning up about it.

Chances are you have just hit the STM for downloading or uploading too much

if the older network hes on is congested then docsis3 might be better for him although thats probably not the case. as pointed out already he might be getting hit by management to which an upgrade to 30meg will give him more of an allowance before getting capped.

we cant be up to any download limit as we only browse the internet and my son is on the ps3 and my other son is on his laptop and they download very little , thanks

you'll be surprised that could actually amount to a chunk. which current broadband package you on including Medium/Large ?

best thing to do mate is try 2 things

log into MyVirginMedia and see if theres a free upgrade option there, also look with email within your account for a free upgrade boost.

if theres nothing call VM, moan and there'll surely send you out a SH and put you on 30meg, bigger allowance before getting managed

If you're on 10Mb now, you will be doubled to 20Mb (for free).
See doublespeed.virginmedia.com for rough timescale

And eventually (when everyone's doubled) you'll be upgraded again to 30Mb (for free).

eventually which will be how long. best thing to do is call up mate. there'll fast track you and your problems will go away
