Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

looks like i will be ordering the super hub after all then.

---------- Post added at 22:51 ---------- Previous post was at 22:29 ----------

before i order this thing, i take it it will give better wifi coverage than what i currently have, when i follow the link on VM's website it tells me the SH will cost me £20, is it worth £20 or should i invest a little more and buy a new router.

think its a bit of a cheek to make me buy the SH though!

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

No, the range of the superhub can only be described as inadequate.

It sounds as if you've been limited by your router for a while, and it sounds like your a bit of a power user if you are running dd-wrt so you are much better off hunting around for a half decent router than can take your choice of firmware. The superhub is pretty bog standard and you really will miss your current routers features (not just the >5ft range, thinks like QoS, bandwidth monitoring and working logs).

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

well a bit more delving about and VM have offered me the SH for free, so i have ordered it, i understand you can run it in modem only mode, so if its that bad i can still go and buy a better router.

I can only echo whats been said about the superhub. I would personally invest in a new Linksys router. I run the WRT54G2 connected to my VMNG300 and its more reliable then any of my superhubs ever were.

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

id pass on it if i was you and instead look at Asus and Linksys. much better customer experience reviews with those two brands. have a searchround the forum, Asus router users have posted recently. Linksys too.

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

ok thanks for that, with P&P its about £41, i have read a couple of reviews about this router gets some positive reports http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-W...puters_title_1

as a side note, could i not run the old router as a bridge with the SH ? or would this not be very reliable ?

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

that TP Link router is very good for a 2.4GHz only router. Theres a cheaper option for 2.4GHz only, D-Link 615, £10 on ebay.

if your willing to spend you might as well future proof yourself mate. Asus RT-N56U/RT-N66U or Linksys high end routers

Re: do i need a superhub upgrade ?

I got that TP-Link router and im very pleased with it, I did install dd-wrt to it and have to say its even more stable and better after that. For £42 is a very capable little router.

I can highly recommend it.
