Re: Spotify being shaped?

You could ask for a discount, they are often amenable if you phrase your request in a civil fashion. It won't resolve your immediate problem, however it doesn't hurt to.

Re: Spotify being shaped?

Found a fix

It wont work with free spotify but if your account is premium it works for buffer free listening.

Thanks for the information you've given us so far on this. We're continuing to work with Spotify to investigate what's happening here but unfortunately we don't have a resolution yet.

For the record we've investigated the possibility of our traffic management system causing this and it isn't, there isn't a "known throttling problem" so I'll ask Spotify to clarify this with their support staff. Our P2P traffic shaping only affects P2P file sharing, not other P2P programs like Skype or Spotify.

Re: Spotify being shaped?

So we're still stuck in the same infinate loop until Virgin stop being stupid.

Spotify: 'its virgin'
Virgin: 'its spotify'.

IMO its virgin. I can get on spotify fine with my neighbours BT broadband, via a very weak wifi signal, and I can even get on it using a t-mobile tethered phone. The second I try it on VM 100mbps, its crap.

This is clearly a VM cockup.

Which part of working "with" Spotify confused you ?

I'm not saying it's not VM, but just because BT is ok, doesn't prove anything.

Re: Spotify being shaped?

Had the same problems with Virgin and Youtube

On Virgin 50 or 100mb, I was constantly getting buffering issues (Despite their website claiming they don't exist heh), but on my trusty Sky unlimited package, I never get any buffering issues, nor does my mum, who's on the sky "lite" package.

Re: Spotify being shaped?

The Register is reporting that capacity between VM and Spotify is being beefed up : http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/05...fy_congestion/

Re: Spotify being shaped?

Big whoop.

Took Virgin Media over two weeks to figure out they had a capacity problem on a direct peering link with a partner company, something that even I in my junior capacity can manage in 5 minutes...

Re: Spotify being shaped?

Looks like it's not going to be a quick fix then. How could they not notice that they were hitting capacity limits?! Quite worrying that it took them 2+ weeks to figure this out.
