Re: Outside Cabling
The heatshrink that you speak of to be applied correctly needs the jointed connection seperating.
Once seperated the sleeve is then slid down one half of the cable then after cable rejointed slid back over the joint.
Moderate heat then applied to heat shrink for a 100% water tight joint.

Re: Outside Cabling
Yes, just unscrew the connectors and slide a sufficient length of heatshrink over either cable. I use a heatgun but a lighter will work. Just make sure that you don't burn the heatshrink, move the cable and/or lighter around. You can find the stuff on ebay.

Re: Outside Cabling
Why eBay?
B&Q sell it too, admittedly only precut lengths, and only certain diameters. So do Maplins and they even stock reels of it, in all diameters.

Re: Outside Cabling
It would probably be cheaper, I got mine from another source. It was merely a suggestion

Cheaper, and you don't need to leave the house.

Re: Outside Cabling
You do to heatshrink the connection though

Re: Outside Cabling
I just checked the prices, Maplins is actually cheaper than eBay once you take the eBay postage into account :P
Maplins: £1.99 per meter. No postage if you collect it in person.
eBay: £0.01 + £2.49 postage per meter.
Granted I didn't look very hard on ebay. There might be better deals, its just been past experience that eBay works out the same as, if not more expensive once you account for the postage charges.

Re: Outside Cabling
Course Maplin I'd have to pay £2.80 for the bus, or £3.99 for delivery

Re: Outside Cabling
I can get a daily Metrorider for £4.00 so I could take a Countywide tour to get my money's worth. However if the weather is nice I could walk there and back in 40 minutes

Re: Outside Cabling
Yeah but you can use it all day for as many journeys as you like. I walk if it's not raining, only takes about 15 minutes

I plan on picking some up shortly Thanks, I have a heat gun and have cable sleeved power supplys with this or something similar so I'm sure I will be able to do it. I will post followup pictures when it is complete and you all can rate it out of 10 Thanks again everyone for the information and support. Cheers
