re: Crawley Downstream channels

the high usage which was yesterday, upstream related sent my connection loopy, it wasnt stable at all. previous days of usage done the samething. i know high usage sees bandwidth fall but why was my stats completely shot. luckly i called complaints with my open ref #/issue (this) and i got put straight through to 2nd line Swansea. the lady saw what was going on and i made her stay on the phone at least half hour to look up and log utilisation. i didnt blow my lid but the spikes and insane connection stats falling, lost channels etc. didnt warrant networks looking at it ? because its periods of high loads and not constant networks wont take action, kind of lost tbh.

yes i will try push him on whats going on in the area.

im around 190ft away from the cab, 58meters?

re: Crawley Downstream channels

Then if it's not a poor connector at the cab, not the wrong tap, not a naff splitter, a repull might be needed. As you know, that won't cure over-utilisation.

re: Crawley Downstream channels

hopefully the senior will have some form of common sense and not do something thats not needed. I have a 10dB attenuator on the SH which puts my power levels to -1/+1. up level max around 52 if that, their normally 48/50

re: Crawley Downstream channels

If your downstream is 10 dBmv without FPA but your upstream is 50 dBmv, then there is unnatural upstream attenuation. It is an FPA? Yes?

re: Crawley Downstream channels

the senior tech has just been, nice guy he put me on a different tap at the cab, checked signals again and took off the attenuator. down levels are high now but up has lowered. on his signal gadget he was trying to get 0 which he got after changing at the cabinet. whats the signal meter thing he was using, it was black and pretty big in a protective cover thing.

anyway i showed him the logs including the monitors and he said he'd let networks know whereas tech support said i was falling short a few % to raise it to networks!! we shall see what happens now

re: Crawley Downstream channels

yeah, change in tap has imrpoved jitters, steady line quality. capacity questions has been raised, should get an answer soon. July may be not entirely sure yet until someone at VM confirms.

This is slightly odd. My d/s power levels have increased by about 2. Shub has been up for 10 days, so nothing has changed.

re: Crawley Downstream channels

Those heights its hitting look more like individual usage to me, though could also be explained by something being seriously wrong on VM's network.

I'd hesitate to blame a network problem just from one user's BQM graph though. We'd have to see other users on the same service group before making proper judgement.
