re: Crawley Downstream channels

I could easily max it out at 100% 100% if you gave me your IP...

(Simple flood to the whole DOCSIS subnet, job done)

re: Crawley Downstream channels

Something going on again on my (Crawley) connection. Ping times have suddenly dropped quite noticeably on my TBB graph. Normally the green bit is flat with no deviation.

Routing change.

Sadly, no change in local congestion.

Luckily I seem to have a decent connection in my part of Crawley, with no real issues at all since a shaky start to my 100Mb experience.

I did it a while back, constantly uploading to my VM webspace, but they said they couldnt raise it because the traffic was coming from my modem!!

re: Crawley Downstream channels

Well if I flood it externally the traffic will be coming from *everyone's* modems.

Not sure if VM would ever let me back if I DoS'd an entire subnet though.

My connection has come to a crawl-ey no seriously its gone extremely slow. looking at my ping monitor you can see spikes (completely shot)...

TH - try hard rebooting the SH and see if the power levels are normal.

they keep fluctuating whether I power down/up or reset using the pinhole. its happening in connection to what appears on my thinkbroadband monitor above (blue). apparently those spikes don't warrant attention from networks but a techs been booked for Monday...

see power levels now..

re: Crawley Downstream channels

What should i say and ask the senior whos coming on Monday? Hopefully he'll know how far along the areas double upgrade is and with that capacity being added. The tech on the phone said I might need a repull although I doubt thats the case with noise on the line being measured as low (agent said this). its obviously a capacity issue but why did my connection go nuts during the extremely high periods of usage?

re: Crawley Downstream channels

Thing is, TH, I can't see a problem with the stats. The lowish downstream (good SNR) is consistent with the highish upstream. You might need a repull if you're closer to the cabinet than the power levels would normally merit.

And then what does "connection go nuts" mean? Is that post #101? The ping spikes are consistent with high usage given the speeds you've shown. The 50 dBmv is a SH firmware aberration that got sorted when you rebooted the thing.

So:

1/
Tackle him on distance from the cabinet. For your levels I'd expect you to be about 200m from the cab or on a wrong tap.

2/
Ask him about the upgrades. A senior engineer will know what's going on.
