Is 50mbit still not throttled ??
After almost 6 months being unlimited peak download usage... Don't ask why, i figured it was cos i complained about the connection so much, Im back on 30mbit with a ludicrously low allowance, I am trying to download a game that is 25gb!! (the latest star wars MMO) after about 30 minutes, im on 5mbit and ... wow well that's just rubbish. I can barely watch Netflix now.
So anyway is 50mbit still un-throttled peak hours? or is that 100mbits privilege now?
I wanted to go upto 50 before they speed double and knowing this would make me do it sooner rather than later.
Thanks

Yes, 50mbit is still unthrottled (no STM) on the download. Upload is STMd if you're in an upgraded area and torrents/newsgroups are traffic shaped.

That's the official consensus anyway. Unfortunately, i havent managed to trigger the STM limits on upload even through hammering 500kb/s upload through utorrent through most of the day.. and neither does the neighbour who see's it fit to upload the internet on a daily basis.

Re: Is 50mbit still not throttled ??
It's 5 hours from the time you trigger it.

Re: Is 50mbit still not throttled ??
the only other limits in place on all internet packages is the 90-95% throttling on usenet and p2p between 4pm and midnight (does not seem to throttle p2p that well and vpn bypasses an bit the usenet but i can only get 35mb when that's active)
on on any 10 20/30 package if you flat line your connection(max download speed) for 30 mins downloading you will set off the STM, 5hrs from the time it was triggered (if you up load for 15-20 mins at full speed that will trigger the STM as well)
both STM triggers affect both up and down speed by 75% (if you set off the upload trigger your download will get cut back by 75% as well)

Re: Is 50mbit still not throttled ??
it does get throttled, but the throttling is dynamic, in heavier usage areas it will be more severe, and VPN bypasses the throttling, so your 40mbit will be maxing out your VPN

Re: Is 50mbit still not throttled ??
the currant VPN provider i use could do with an speed test for there servers as its an pain to check each server (they have 60 of them or so) and they limit the change to 1 every 5 mins
think i should update my services as well (WNR2000 :P )
