Re: Brighton @ 4277Kpbs
that's cool. You cant expect to get that all the time though, especially on Friday evenings and during the day time over the weekend. That is pretty much your max speed.

Students are not his problem. they meaybe Virginmedias problem but that's something Virginmedia should deal with.
If they can't offer the speed advertised they should reduce the advertised speed and offer a reduced price. Sky could offer me a 30Mb ADSL connection but then say
STUDENT MATE when I ask why I'm only getting 14Mb. But Sky told me expect 7-12Mb..I get 14..
Yes Sky have made a decision internally to under estimate a users speeds.

Re: Sunday Speed in Brighton 21.17
More like 10% people had to be at advertised speed...

Re: Sunday Speed in Brighton 21.17
yep that rule is a big let off. ofcom/asa are considering changing it tho so it has to be 10% in any given area.

Re: Sunday Speed in Brighton 21.17
absolutely, it should be that as a minimum. For me it is reasonable and common sense to expect 50% of customers to be able to get the advertised speed. If the majority of customers cant get the speed you are advertsing at some point during the day then it isnt a 100mbit connection (as an example). They should say it is a 70mbit connection if that is what 80% of people get and if you get any more than that then it is a bonus.
