Super Slow Broadband

I have got Virgins 50meg broadband, sometimes it is 50 meg. Sometimes its 2meg. If testing or downloading a large file the speed usually picks up. General surfing the net is as slow as dial up sometimes. A nice Indian chap at Virgin said it was the router and they would send a new one out. After a couple of weeks and several texts saying it was going to delivered at a one hour time slot. I called them again and they said the router was in my local depot Manchester. (I live in Bournemouth) 200 miles away. I would have to call thier not the best delivery company (they are the cheapest) Home delivery network, they dont know where it is, and say to speek to Virgin as its not been collected yet. A few weeks later got throught to another Indian chap who realised that I was not lightly to get the first one, and arranged for another one to be sent out. That one truned up, but was dead the same. one minute 50mg then nothing.
Virgin then said the voltage was too high and sent out a man. He said it was a network problem, but Virgin wont admit to it........ Pay for 50meg... get what they feel like..

Re: Super Slow Broadband

The superhub is a fairly decent, limited feature, wired router.

However it is the absolute worst wireless router I have ever had the misfortune to come accross.

If you want wireless it's best to get a new wireless router and put the so called superhub into modem mode.

Almost any other wireless router will be streets ahead of the superhub in signal strength, stability and features. Even a £10 DIR-615 off fleabay leaves a superhub for dead.

I use the superhub in wireless mode. I have a Netgear wireless adaptor for the computer and it's consistently good. Admittedly in the same room, but the laptop used over the house doesn't show too much difference either.
