Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

Hi all, I've been using the Virgin Superhub we paid 80 pounds for and since then it has been shocking online play with the PS3. Download speeds are fine in the same room on my Computer etc it seems just to be with the PS3.

I can have up to 4 PS3's running at the same time in the house but we can also never play together, this is why we upgraded to the superhub in the first place..

I've tried Port fowarding, dmz, channel changing i just don't know what to do anymore...

I'm willing to buy a new router now if i can't get this sorted if you could suggest a good ''gaming'' one capable of handling at least 2 PS3's..

thanks

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

Just about anything that *isn't* the Superhub in that price range or half of that would handle gaming fine with multiple PS3's.

If that's the only ting you need then a £10 DIR-615 would do a better job (with DD-WRT)

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

have disabled ip flood in services on the advanced settings page?

as qas said the 615 is the decent cheap option.. high end ones asus, linksys, netgear.. id point you in the direction of the 1 in my sig but you need a router asap if the SH work arounds dont work. 1 in my sig isnt released yet.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

I'd buy a 2843 if it were available, settling for a 2543 for now though. Mind you, I've got several other APs already and wouldn't choose that as my only router though.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

you just need something that was designed to be a proper router. It really is so sad that you paid £80 for the shub, for that price you could have bought something like the Linksys E3000 which kicks ass and would do what you want it to without beaking a sweat. You have bought a Smart Price car from Asda when you could have had a Porsche.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

get a cheap 615 as qas said, look on ebay. put the rest of your budget towards saving for a high end router at a later date. theres no point spending more tban a tenna with that budget.

i could offer you the bog standard belkin f9k or the 615 but theres cheaper 615s on ebay last time i looked.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

you could do, which is why i asked what speed you were on atm. If you are going to be moving up to 100mbit any time soon when you want to saving your pennys for something like the E2000 or any other router with gigabit ports on it but if you think you are going to be 30-60mbit for the foreseeable future then the E1000 is good for you now.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

No man thats a step backwards in todays world plus it doesnt run simultaneous bands.. waste of money imo. never thought id say this but its not all about speed.. high end routers have better features/specs.

Re: Virgin Superhub, PS3 Problems

The only problem I have had with the SuperHub is running the LOVEFILM app on the PS3, it takes ages to load films and the trailers, this may be a related issue? Is this a firmware issue I wonder? Has anyone else had this problem with the LOVEFILM app on PS3? I am on the 30Mb service.

Stick DD-WRT on it and it has both features and speed.
