50MB to 100MB, then a tickle to 120MB

Got a letter from VM today, telling me about the broadband upgrades. It says they will upgrade my 50MB to 100MB and then during a second stage of upgrades they will increase the speed all the way to 120MB - since I am such a valued customer and they like me.

I wonder how many people got this particular tickle? I can't help thinking that current 100MB customers are getting rather short-changed here but for myself I am not complaining at all!

From 50MB to 120MB? Until today, I thought only current 100MB customers were being upgraded to 120MB and getting a discount, since their speed is not being doubled.

Re: 50MB to 100MB, then a tickle to 120MB

I also got a letter, but I am already on 100Mb. They told me that they liked me too and I would be upgraded to 120Mb any time from the summer 2012 onwards, details to follow. They would be dropping the charge to that of the current 50Mb. For this reason I am not peeved.

If I want to pay more we already know that 200Mb is coming this year.

With the news of BT's fibre to the premises (FTTP) by 2013, at at least 400Mb, I am sure Virgin will be announcing 400Mb soon. This was tested to my great satisfaction in Coventry last year. VM has declared itself satisfied with its 1.5Gb tests in London.

I suppose it makes sense that VM are trying to simplify the tiers a little.

also bt news that they will exend fttp/h to areas that are fttc enabled if the user is willing ot pay to be called fttp/h on demand will mean there more competiton to virign as peopel will be willign to pay what could be about a few hundrad pounds fora true fibre connection but the costs aint full discloused and this wont be avabile until 2013
