100M Drip Rate after upgrade to 100Mbps

Hi Guys
I have a problem and wonder if any of you can shed some light on it for me.

I had a perfect 50Mbps service which I upgraded to 100Mbps. After the upgrade my download speeds start off relatively quickly but rapidly slow to a snail's pace.

I had no joy from virgin and asked to be put back to 50Mbps. But now I have the same problem with 50Mbps. Downloads from business sites with very large pipes.

When I start a download I achieve around 4-5MBps but this rapidly drops to 1MBps - 400KBps - sometimes less.

Apple TV was able to download movies in a flash and now I have to wait and wait.

During the upgrade I had a new Superhub. I also and a 3 way 6db splitter fitted in the omni box and a Tivo Box installed in another room.

The Superhub is configured in modem mode and I've tried two new routers -DLink DIR-855 and Netgear WNDR4500.

The stats from the modem seem to appear ok -

your upstream i think is on the little low side so that might be first place to look, can someone confirm that it is a little low cant rememebr the lower end of the scale but i know its in the 30's

I've been told it's less problematic with higher power, not sure about lower or SNR for example.

Thanks for looking at the stats guys. Do I assume that all looks in order?

I have just ordered a 2 way tap to replace the 3 way splitter they installed. I'm hoping that this may be the issue as one of the legs that is split goes to my loft and this is split again there. At some point in the past, the virgin guys disconnected the original splitter/tap after I had a problem and didn't tell me they had connected the super hub directly. I found the splitter/tap in the gravel by the omni box. I didn't notice this as I wasn't using the other connections, however when I ordered the upgrade I also ordered the Tivo box which meant they needed to reconnect the other connections.

Anyway, I'm hoping the splitter is the problem now and that the tap will have some magic powers!

You say you should be on 100mb, your modem thinks it's on 50mb. That's not at all in order.

No, I told Virgin to put me back on 50Mbps as the upgrade killed my speeds - as mentioned in my original post.

Craig, you tricked me!

Honestly though, there will be no difference in service (apart from speed limit) between 50 and 100mb. If you were having trouble on 100mb downgrading to 50 was unlikely to make any difference. Though quite why upgrading caused a problem I don't know.

Since 50 and 100 run on the same channels, same frequency, same line, and same service groups you'll get exactly the same problems on both; i.e. the problem won't be speed related then.
