Since 50 and 100 run on the same channels, same frequency, same line, and same service groups you'll get exactly the same problems on both; i.e. the problem won't be speed related then.
I have to say I assumed that, although I read in another post someone did exactly the same, yet when he reverted back to 50Mbps his download speed returned to what he'd had previously.

Mine is like a battery running flat fast, starting off ok and within seconds slowing down to a snail's pace. I'm hoping it's the splitter, so going to have a fiddle myself. If that fails it's time to change providers.

Try this speedtest: it works on a different basis and I find it's quite more advanced for diagnosing problems.
