Superhub 50mb and Usenet Slow Download Issues

Hi All

Im new here so sorry if its duplicate and thanks all for the advice.

Just been changed to a virgin superhub on 50 mb, I use usenet server and my download speeds have dropped to around 6 to 13mb on average.

i never used to have this issue when i was using the spaceship looking modem and a dlink router.

i have newzbin pro set for ssl port 443 but still have the issue.

can anyone recommend the right settings for the superhub or something to help this issue.

the trouble i have is also i was doing a speedtest and it was varying from 5mb to 40mb and ended up finishing on 20mb and the 2nd test after a reboot ended up on 30mb, this was a 21.15 last night.

is this an issue with the settings or not installed correctly.

any advice is most appreciated.

thanks simon

Try disabling the web protection component of your AV when speed testing.

It might also improve your usenet experience as well.

Worth a punt at any rate.

Re: Superhub 50mb and Usenet Slow Download Issues

av really slows down usenet i noticed when i was using it recently, seems teh newer av software just blocks it for some reaosn and restrict as soon as it off your back to full speed, not necessary your problem as mick say wortha try, when you disable it make sure windows is reporting to no antivirus otherwise it still running in the background

I use avira free AV, most AV have a web protection component these days but in case yours doesn't then temporarily disable your AV when speedtesting and/or accessing Usenet.

Re: Superhub 50mb and Usenet Slow Download Issues

Yeah you'll get awful speeds on usenet at peak times. But if you have a download manager with history you'll see downloads started after midnights go from the previous 300kb/s average to 5.9MB/s or so.
