Modem Mode - Upload Speed

I have just upgraded from BBL to BBXL installed the superhub. All working fine, decided to use my existing gigabit router so set the superhub to Modem Mode.

However I noticed in speedtest that I was only getting 1mbs uploads (around 30-33mbs downloads so can't complain). My area (Wolvs/Dudley) was upgraded in September, so I searched the web and read somewhere that you had to reset the superhub for the 3mbs uploads to kick in.

So I connected the superhub to my PC direct, changed back to full mode and checked speednet sure enough only 1mbs.

So I picked the reset option in the menu, waited for it to reboot and retested the uploads (in full mode) and it was giving me around 2.8 mbs.

Jobs a goodun I thought - but no.

Put the superhub back in Modem mode and retested and it back to 1mbs again.

Anyone else experience this?

I don't upload much, but if I am entitled to it I want it!

Patrick

Just done some more tests, something funny going on. Did a reset in modem mode not full mode (really not sure if there's any difference) and if I connect direct to the superhub I get the full upload speed, if I connect via the router it seems to restrict it...

Very odd.

Re: Modem Mode - Upload Speed

Check for any QoS settings in the router.

Re: Modem Mode - Upload Speed

Thank you.. :-)

You're absolutely right, I have a Siemens DECT VOIP phone (which uses Sipgate) attached to my network with port forwarding. I probably don't need to bother now I have increased bandwidth, but if the quality of the calls is affected I will re-enable it.

Thanks for providing an answer so quickly! You're a star.. :-)

Re: Modem Mode - Upload Speed

It crops up surprisingly often for some reason.

I found that the 5Mbps upstream from when I was on 50Mbps completely flummoxed my DIR655 QoS - it wouldn't accept an upstream that high.
