Good accurate and reliable speed test

I had found a very good speed test site that will do 10, 30, 50 and 100 Meg a good accurate and reliable speed test.

Try this link and post back with your result: http://speedtest.magnet.ie/

Last Result:
Download Speed: 96412 kbps (12051.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9573 kbps (1196.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Ping: 11ms

Re: Good accurate and reliable speed test

Magnet Networks

Namesco Broadband MAX

OOKLA Speedtest.NET

does seem to give nice consistent speed tests when compared to the others.
although worth noting they all use the ookla speedtester, just running on different servers.

Good find

Virgin Media have a couple of internal speed testers running,

http://Speedtest.VirginMedia.com
http://Speedtest1.VirginMedia.com
http://Speedtest2.VirginMedia.com
http://Speedtest3.VirginMedia.com
http://Speedtest4.VirginMedia.com

But they are all password protected, shame they dont open at least one up for Virgin Media subscribers only.

I agree! It very selfish of Virgin Media won't let us have one of those test because they don't want us to know the real true speed test I suppose.

yep, they could easily open it up to VM subscribers by shoving it on a VM server within the network that is only accessible via a VM Internet Connection.

Re: Good accurate and reliable speed test

Wow, telford's back and posting rubbish speedtests again! Wonder if he gets comission per speedtest he brings to the sites, because every one he has claimed so far to be "good" "accurate" or "reliable" has been anything but.

Magnet.ie can't reliably measure any connections over 50mbps download or 10mbps upload.

I am still trying to work out if the imminent collapse of the stock markets around the world and the satellite crashing to earth are linked to the return of telfordcable in same way :-/

Or it could be because they want those servers to be fast, responsive and accurate for their engineers who use them to test new connections rather than what happened when the details to the speed testers went public.

Customers, mostly with no issues at all beyond a need to find faults and an addiction to speed tests, caned the test boxes and when engineers came to test customer connections they were unreliable due to load on the servers.

I have to admit I really don't understand the obsession with knowing exactly how fast the connection is if it browses fast, streams smoothly, games responsively and is there or there abouts when doing normal downloading.

EDIT: Just for you Telford - this is spot on every time
