Right, so it would stiil relieve the upstream congestion in as much as the customers have been split onto two different streams?

the first thing the CEO office asked me today if I am in a student area as they said the date is what they would expect. They are getting back to me tommorow. It was as I said before tho quite sudden of a change in very short time.
If they end up telling me its something I have to accept of using their service in a student area I will accept it but only at a discount during student term.
I am not actually in a student area, but there is one not too far off from me so is not impossible that the 2 areas share the same UBR. I dont know how big the areas are that UBR's cover.

Southampton Exchange isn't even on the rollout schedule yet.

Not surprising as it would belong to BT
There is no public rollout schedule. Just a page showing the areas that have been/in the process of being done.

Re: New upload speeds and Network Management
Morning,
I am in a student area (leamington) btw and there are at least 6 next door to me all with VM broadband so I would expect a saturated network but this has never happened however, my upload speed increased over a week ago. As always both upload and download speed are consistently good.

Re: New upload speeds and Network Management
why is VM the isp of choice with students so much?
But you are proof that student areas can have good performance just needs the right effort put into provision.

As much as I am looking forward to the extra upstream, I'm just happy it's going to happen, not bothered about when.

Re: New upload speeds and Network Management
The OP reffered to this which had nothing to do with BT.

They do 9 month contracts for students, which align with the academic year.

Re: New upload speeds and Network Management
Are they allowing any extra headroom with the 5meg upload like they gave 1.75meg for the 1.5meg service? What are the configs saying?
