Hey that is to early you need to wait until the Upload upgrade thread starts before posting that.

seems low to me.
ignition detailed quite bit of work involved in upgrading capacity 8 fold for these upgrades, a 6 month national rollout would seem to indicate a rushed rollout, eg. just changing configs.

Just changing configs could be done on a national basis tomorrow.

OK they do that and suddenly the network collapses because it is not ready for it, would you then complain about it.?
It needs to be done in stages so as not to overload and kill the network, yes they could flick a switch but that would be madness.

Re: 50mb upload increase finally
I thought they might be leaving the 5mbit for 50mbit until the 100mbit lauch, due to the fact that there was no mention of the upgrade for quite a while. Is 5mbit upload rate for 50mbit still possably on the card before the official rollout of the 100mbit connection?

It is all speculation until we have an official announcement.

Re: 50mb upload increase finally
I'd be pleased if I could consistently get somewhere near the 768kbps up I'm supposed to with 20Mbps. It's been rather poor lately for me.

I usually manage around 720 on my 20Mb connection fairly consistantly.

Re: 50mb upload increase finally
I'm happy for you then but just recently I don't. Hopefully the upgrades will sort it out when they get rolled out.

Re: 50mb upload increase finally
Slightly off topic, but if 50mbit gets 5mbit up does that mean we're looking at a 10mbit up on the 100mbit?

At present no one knows but that would be likely.

True, but the upload speed would only be 10mb....I say only, compared to 1.75mb, that'd be dreamy, but still, it wouldn't be AS high as the fibre offerings from BT, from memory (I could be wrong mind you)

Re: 50mb upload increase finally
BT might have higher upload rates with the new fibre offerings, but VM appear to be more generous with the ammount they allow users to upload/download. Chances are you might get a faster upload speed with BT but not be allowed to max it out for long periods of time and/or quota.
