Newgroups - I don't know my virgin user/pass :(
I'm trying to use the Xnews newsgroup client to download some files off alt.binaries but it asks for my virgin user/pass, i've never known what my password is and i'm not even sure what my username is anymore, i've just never used the isp's email in the 6 or so years i've been with ntl (now virgin).
How can i find out my user and pass?

Do you mean you're using news.virginmedia.com to download binaries from Usenet? The service doesn't require a user/pass, it simply lets anyone on a VM IP connect so just leave those fields blank. Try a decent client like AltBinz (free) or Newsleecher too.

Yeps that's correct, I don't need a user name or password for the VM newsgroup server if i am connected via a VM modem. However i have never been able to down load from the VM newsgroups when i have been at a friends who uses SKY.

I was going to try and use VM's newgroup, is it any better since VM use highwinds for the newsgroup service?

It's not bad. Apart from the retention which, at 7 days, is pretty pathetic.
But you can't turn your nose up at free...

It doesn't offer SSL either, despite Highwinds and its resellers offering free SSL on all packages. I pay for premium access with SSL personally.
