Damn! I haven't had a reply to my acceptance email. So it looks like I am not one of the lucky few in Coventry.

I never win anything!

Re: Upload Speed for 50Mb when it being upgraded

Another guy from Huddersfield is on 5Mbps too, between that and the URL mentioning Huddersfield and Coventry I'd say some 50Mbps peeps in Coventry should be in for a nice surprise soon.

Odd that they are doing the trial in 2 ex-original ntl areas firstly though. Wonder when it'll go to ex-CWC Bromley and ex-Telewest Knowsley regions.

No. It's only in Huddersfield right now and there's a change freeze from early-mid December to the New Year, so hell freezing over is more likely.

I would say, in my totally uneducated option, staggered rollout over Q1 - Q2 2010 is more likely, some areas will need more work than others.

You may get on the performance monitoring trial but unless you've upgraded and not updated your services on this forum they aren't going to give you 50Mbit service so that you can trial the improved uploads I don't think

a 10 to 1 ratio, now you have to wonder how long that will last when the executive penny pincher gets to hear about it.

and whats the unspoken catch they will put on it later....

looking on that thread (i hate their VM Message Board software, it takes forever just to load or refresh their pages) it doesnt seem like any techy users have got on the trial yet to find and point out the good and the bad bits of Vm's choosen settings and related options etc and thats a shame.

i have to also assume Orange (the long standing VM tech that used to PR his VM trials a lot before, not the mobile company) or whoevers in charge of this new trial, didnt see fit to turn off the VM generic Multicast protocol filtering on their routers and related kit.

so techy people can/could try a simple VLC multicast of some SD/HD video to other trial users on there, or allow a home/semi pro dev to actually write or retrofit and test other real Multicast capable apps for the future bandwidth savings on the VM and other peer connected multicast networks it could bring

and did VM techs finally try and add in the IPv6 stack capabilitys etc as per the generic Docsis1,2 and 3 spec for trialists to try if they want to!

Re: Upload Speed for 50Mb when it being upgraded

You took your time getting here Popper!

IPv6 capability is a mandatory part of DOCSIS 3 only I think, none of the others. Multicast though has been knocking about since 1.1 but a cable company with an interest in selling you TV is hardly going to bust a gut to get you to use HSI bandwidth on video

The executive penny pincher is actually the guy who launched the higher upstream trials with a statement he made a few months about about 10Mbps upstream trials to keep up with BT's NGA services

Re: Upload Speed for 50Mb when it being upgraded

You do indeed have the 5Mbps upload. You can test it via Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Could you paste this page: http://192.168.100.1/CmUpBurst.asp from your modem for my geeky delectation please?

Thanks!
