Unless they have physical access to the DHCP server (the server that hands out the IPs needed for internet communication), they can't force a MAC onto the network.
You need the wiring in your building checked.

Re: Virgin Media to battle cloned modems.
thenry you need to clam down.
there may be or may not be cloners on docsis3 however there is no way for me or you to tell, your performance issues could just be the usual over subscription.

Re: Virgin Media to battle cloned modems.
So consensus is
1. Get your building wiring checked!
2. Get your building wiring checked!
3. Cloned modems can't cause the issues you are having.
4. Get 'cloners' out of your head
5. Keep Calm & Carry On

I can think of one other thing that everyone's probably thinking but is too afraid to say it:
Get your head and tinfoil hat checked

The point has been made (repeatedly) - let's calm down now, please.

Have you had the wiring in your building checked?

Re: Virgin Media to battle cloned modems.
or suggesting i do but fail to see a point in posting details and rather push for a cure on this crap. not one person in this world likes being mugged, i dont see the point, the postive in this issue being overlooked.

You have an issue with something that is no longer an issue. Those of us who work for the company KNOW that this is no longer an issue, You have been told this but you still rabbit on and on about it. I have just been and checked the forums that used to be heavily involved in this and the lack of posts on this subject shows that people gave up months and months ago trying to keep there clones on line. May i suggest you find a subject that is more currant that you can get you teeth into.
To quote a post from last month for instance
