No, you're on a Harrogate uBR, which hangs off Leeds headend and uses Leeds DHCP.
At a quick guesstimate and according to DNS there are only 3 uBRs in Harrogate - unlikely to be a high priority due to being so relatively small.
The 50Mbit may be overlaid and run from Leeds, but Harrogate itself will not be a high priority to receive equipment of its' own.

Most people's hostnames have not been changed - more relevant is that you are on bsfd1 - Basford 1, first uBR in Basford so not going to be the newest one!

Bishop's Stortford not Basford, is the one after cpc1 or bsfd1 the ubr number.
Whats so good about it not being the newest one?

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
the older it is the more dated the equipment is going to be. Hopefully it is a good sign though as it means it will hopefully to be the first to be upgraded.

Yes, you're on a Bromsgrove UBR, which is connected to Wolverhampton. But Bromsgrove doesn't have 50-meg available yet even though Wolverhampton does.

Virgin said at the launch the next dates would not be announced till January.
As for Traffic Shaping, there is not going to be any on the XXL broadband at launch, and even when it is, the times/trigger levels/length have not been decided.

Its going to have appilication throttling not STM well done VM you've done it again, released a great speed and your going to screw people who use it.

no shaping on XXL, i find that hard to believe, maybe for for the first 3 months until VM guages interest in their top tier BB package, then they will bend you over and pull your pants down. i will admit i am a very heavy user, but to be honest, traffic shaping has never bothered me. having said that £52/month is a lot of money and i would like to think i would be getting value for money with a 50Mbit package.
Am i just stupid or niave to think that VM's 50Mbit package will be as good as my 20Mbit package has been.

application throttling like bittorrent and giganews? does that mean that the app will be nobbled or that they will do a check on the ports that it uses.
