And anyone signing up to 50meg is being signed into a new 12 month deal and the T's and C's cover shaping so if they introduce it they will just say you accepted that as part of the deal when you first signed up.

Its actually an 18 month deal to maximise their profit.

Rik,

If Luton has been Hemel Hempstead, where you are, has not.

You are on lutn-hem1-ubr-2.network.virginmedia.net - which is not a 10k.

Out of interest can you post an example of a tracert to a new 10k chassis and an example of its hostname etc ?

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?

Not really, I know that's not a 10k as there's a ubr-3 in the site and that's the old ntl naming convention.

They are all, or will all be named the same, site-cmts-xx.network.virginmedia.net

Just waiting for Leeds to come online as I am served from the Leeds hub-site along with wetherby and Knaresborough and York so im assuming when Leeds goes live my area will too. that is how its always worked in the past with the 4-10meg upgrade and then the 10-20meg upgrade.

I'm afraid you might be assuming wrong! Unless you're actually on a Leeds uBR you may not get the upgrade at the same time as it's a physical hardware install not a logical change as the other uplifts were.

I'm served from Croydon headend via the Mortlake hubsite and our 50Mbit will come when Mortlake is upgraded.

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?

Today i phoned to see if they could tell me when my area (DY10) was going to be done, as just before christmas i was speaking to some
one in sales at virgin who said my area was due to be done in january ,and they said to ring back after xmas and they whould be able to give
me more information on the date . I do not think they know what is happing at all , the person i spoke to today, said it is a new service and
we will get letters from the marketing team when it is ready , and also
said that the London area was the only area that has been fully done ,
when i tried to say that all the Dy postcodes up to DY9, had been done
, they we talk about all day , it would be next summer before it has been
finshed rolling out, which i already knew only rang back to day because i was advised to. How many areas is 50mg avaible in at the momment

Queue sequence of people reminicing about their older kit in a near-pythonesque fashion.

1200 bps ?? 1200 ?? I remember .....
