Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
I am an existing customer....will I have to pay any installation charges? And am I still going to recieve the discount which I recieve now....
so say I recieve 10mb for 25 + 18 for telephone - 20 discount...If I upgrade to 50mb, will it then be 50mb 51 + 18 for telephone and no discount?

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
Anyone noticed the: The legal stuff on the bottom of: http://allyours.virginmedia.com/websales/50Mb/index.do
Installation charges apply (starting from £30 for standard installation). An additional £50 activation fee is payable for 50Mb broadband.
So does that mean current customers have to pay £50 activation fee ?
Do current customers also have to pay the £30 installation fee ?

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
I can understand having to pay £30 for an engineer to come out and do stuff but I don't understand what costs £50.

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
I think I'll wait until it becomes a self install. (and is in my area of course).
Mind you, there's no way I'm paying a £50 activation charge.

Re: Virgin's 50Mb broadband arriving December 15?
I think we are all going to have to be patient. I can remember years ago when Sky digital first came out you had to pay £200 for the box, installation fees and a monthly subsciption. These days you can get the box for free, installation for free (special offers) and just pay your monthly subscription. The same sort of thing applied to the 512k broadband from ntl and then that went to free modem and a £25 installation fee.
As it is a new thingi think we all need to wait a while for when they dish out the modems for free (assuming that is what the £50 is for) and then I won't mind paying £30 for the engineer to come out and maybe the £52 a month will be more like £37 (current price of top tier package)

6 Package: The 50Mb service includes a new EuroDOCSIS3-compatible modem, an unlimited service with no traffic management at launch (acceptable use policy still applies), and a complete wireless kit to make the most of 50Mb speeds (including 802.11n router and 802.11n USB dongle), PCguard Total anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. Virgin Media uses traffic management on its network to ensure the vast majority of customers receive the high quality of service they expect. Virgin Media will be trialling a variety of different approaches to traffic management and upstream speeds, to improve the unique performance of this service.
