The only difference is the 2Mbit upload - 200Kbit ex-ntl, 256kbit ex-tw. Both others are the same - 10Mbit (512k) and 20Mbit (768kbit)

Nah it's going to 4Mbit through late 2009, early 2010 and once upstream has been aligned and then upstream bonding come into play it may or may not go to 10Mbit, i find it doubtful so i didnt see it worth mentioning, kudos though if you're right

Re: 2MB increasing to 10MB after Xmas?

Hello,

If this is true it makes me feel like crying ! Because my already oversubscribed UBR can only deliver 2-3Mb on either a 10Mb or 20Mb service what will it be like when all the 2Mb go to 10Mb ...?!?!?!!?!?!

They'd better upgrade all oversubscribed UBR's before even considering this.

Thats what I was wondering what upstreams are going to be aligned as on the 2mbit, so Fatec whats the upload speeds going to be?

What you have to remember is by then only 2Mb and 10Mb will be using the DOCSIS 1.0 network as 20Mb and 50Mb is running on DOCSIS 3.0, so there will be LOTS more bandwidth for the lower tiers.

Off to 10meg soon then, some bandwidth and some savings.

Upgraded from 2 to 10MB last night, getting 7.5-9Mb regular so far in Nottingham area. So go for it as far as I am concerned.

Re: 2MB increasing to 10MB after Xmas?

I just got upgraded from 2mb to 10mb
I live in london se23 - anyone know why my upload line now only operates at 50kb
but I am getting 10mb download speeds (actually the tests vary between 6500 and 9800kb)
I used to get 2mb download and 250kb upload

is it normal for upload speeds to go down after an upgrade, or should i complain?

10mb is being moved over to the DOSCIS 3 network too.

Currently all broadband tiers are delivered over the DOSCIS 1 network which uses the frequencies equivalent of 2 analogue tv channels (1 in many areas) to deliver all broadband download speeds. Another 4 analogue channels have been added. The capacity is huge and is capable of being upgraded even faster than 50mb. What VM does with all this bandwidth, remains to be seen.

The NTL:250 and 255 are currently the best modems you can get.
