Down grading?

Is it worth down grading from the 20mbs service to the 10mbs service as i have heard the 10 mbs service is supposed to be alot more stable!

Re: Down grading?

If you are unable to reach 20Mbit regularly it might be, just remember that you have less of a data allowance on 10Mbit, I think it would drop between 4pm and 9pm from 3GB to 1GB before you see a speed reduction.

Re: Down grading?

dont get me wrong i get the full 20mbs 24/7 but i find it a bit sluggish and bittorent applications never really hit anything above 400-500k at most.

Depends on seeds I have only maxed out a few times always getting around 500Kb/s

Re: Down grading?

Best get onto VM and ask for a better upload to get more data from peers as opposed to having to rely on seeds

Ask yourself if the speed difference and price difference make that much difference to you, and if you're going to lose a bundle discount.

Also hugely don't forget the big reduction in the STM thresholds. If you're a torrenter you may find that downgrading to 10Mbit leaves you stuck at 2.5Mbit quite a bit due to breaking the much smaller limit.

Yep have a think about what you'll save, if you use over 1GB between 4pm and 9pm, if you can move the downloads to other times, and if it's worth the hassle.

Then get on to VM to find out why your 20Mbit is sluggish. Web browsing on it should fly.

Re: Down grading?

Just connect your modem direct to see if it's a router issue.

Re: Down grading?

I downgraded from 20 to 10MB once my area was upgraded as I was only receiving around 15MB on 20MB so wasn't worth the extra money!
