how could they

How could they back when i was with NTL they put in a phone socket 2 of them, now we not with them and redecorating our living room I thought no need for the phone sockets as there no cable anymore here, so takes a driver too the boxes and proceeds to remove the boxes and then the cables, so far so good but when i cut the wires out of the 2nd box to my dismay they had used the BT line, the Bt phone socker next to the old NTL one, now why would they tamper with my bt wires and use the spare wires in the line to hook up their 2nd phone socket? so by doing that and me removing the unwanted boxes I have damaged my BT line, bloody cheek of it.
only wanted to clear away unwanted wires and sockets.

Tarantella is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: how could they

I remember switching off the lighting fuses in a house to remove some old unwanted cables and sockets in the loft only to find (to my shock) that they had actually wired the loft lighting straight into the ring main.

Now I always check both ends of a cable before removing it, religiously.

Wow I had trouble following that gigantic long sentence.

Anyway its always wise to check where cables go before cutting through them.

Not quite sure I followed that, the BT line coming in from the street will go to the master socket and from there internal wiring will go to other sockets.

Not sure how they could of used spare wires in the BT line? Is the second socket in another room? If so I assume NTL used the internal wiring to connect the second socket to the NTL phone line.
