Question Netgear RangeMax WPN824 speeds

G'day,

I've just purchased the above wireless router and don't any problems with my wired connection. However, my laptop downstairs isn't getting anywhere near my 10Mb connection (it's fluctuating between 2mb and 7Mb). I'm not even getting full connection bars, though I'm only one off. I've checked for anything that may interfere with the wireless connection, and have tried various channels, but still the speed is poor.

Anyone got experience with this router/suggestions to improve speed?

Ta,
Dash
