Re: im reading cable-modem-signal-levels.

Click on connection above it will tell you what ubr you are on, similar to
cable.ubr01.uddi.blueyonder.co.uk
Can you post that here minus your ip address.

Your modem information is fine, all levels within what they should be.
Do they vary, particularly the upstream power level?

Do you use a router? If so, have you tried a direct connection from modem to comp?

Traceroutes and ping tests would also help.

traceroute keyweb.de and tools.virginmedia.com

(paste the results if you would, and I advise that you remove the first line from each)

Re: im reading cable-modem-signal-levels.

I'm not at work but phoned a friend who says there's slow speeds on your ubr.
But as there's different cables it may be worth calling to see if you are directly affected.
You're getting no packet loss and the min max and avg times look good.
I'd still recommend trying a direct connection as everything looks ok.
If still the same with a direct connection call in.

Re: im reading cable-modem-signal-levels.

it looks ok when it's leaving the VM network IMO. connect directly to your modem whilst giving it a reboot, might work wonders

Re: im reading cable-modem-signal-levels.

Instead of taking a snap shot of the network. Use Ping Plotter and have a look at it over a period of time and see what results you get then. You might have an intermittent problem.

http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html
Standard version is 30 day trail, but does work afterwards tho

A few settings I use:

(main screen - bottom left)
Trace interval: 1sec
Samples to include: ALL

Under:-
Edit >> options, select `packet'
change drop down menu at top from `ICMP' to `UDP Packets', then OK your way out and enter the IP address and hit trace button.

When you do start tracing, right click on graph and select 5 min time scale.

You should get an image like the attached. Fingers crossed not as bad as last weeks tho (3rd August 2008). I've finally got my capacity upgrade (I think, subject to change). Whoohoo after 9 months of bad latency and yo-yo download speed. Five days now good latency and also constant 19600 kbps download speed day or night.
