Is there any plans of 2mb going to 4mb

I have read in places of the 2mb broadband being increased. I would hope it is as 2mb is free with some suppliers. I never thought i would say this but i am having serious consideration of leaving virgin. I can see sky is slightly cheaper although i would have to pay rip off instalation and have an unsightly sky dish. I would also have to have a bt line put in and put up with hopeless broadband that dont connect. I think i should have a better broadband for what i pay especialy having v+ and 2 extra set top boxes and XL phone and XL tv i pay around £50 I did see a special triple XL package for £50 but i would pay extra having 2 extra set top boxes so be £60

Re: Is there any plans of 2mb going to 4mb

It is very unlikely that the will be any upgrading of 2Mb to any other tier at the present moment, as Virgin are concentrating on the present upgrade of all 4Mb users to the new tier of 10Mb.

Also they are in the planning stages of the 50Mb rollout that will come next.

If you have the package you state in your post above then you should ring up Customer Services and see if they will give you a free upgrade to 4Mb, failing that threaten to disconnect as you have a better deal on offer from another ISP and will consider staying if they upgrade you to 4Mb.

I was told it would be next year but I don't know how true it is.

They are likely to upgrade the 2Mb service in august 2009 or later that year.

Re: Is there any plans of 2mb going to 4mb

In other words "No-one knows when the 2mb to 4mb will be, but it is likely that they won;t consider starting the upgrade until the 4mb-10mb upgrade has been completed and even then they might do the 50mb rollout first"

Sorry but it is like asking how long is a piece of string

Re: Is there any plans of 2mb going to 4mb

Thanks for the replies. I phoned virgin media and stated i want better deal i agreed with the sales guy Sky broadband is ***** also BT are a rip off dug up old wounds i had with BT that they ripped me off £50 some 9-10 years ago. I believe i have the absolute best deal with virgin. I have got an upgrade to L for just an extra few pounds a month. Going with Sky with an equivalent package would cost me in excess of £180 installation plus getting the rip off merchants at BT to sort out the phone line they did not repair some 9 years ago yet charged me £50 for doing no work (hence why i went to telewest) Yes i got a good deal plus a 12 month tie in again but my house is only set out to receive Virgin services because the competition does not care about customer service. I have also had similar with Sky they wont repair or change a set top box after 12 months why my TV package went to Telewest and eventually AOL crappy dial up.

I honestly believe and i do not care what anybody says on here for value for money and customer service Virgin Media comes 1st.

I mentioned HD programs for Virgin TV wile talking to sales this is earmarked after the broadband upgrades.

Hi,

I have 3 for 30 (XL TV, L Phone and M Broadband) we wanted to go to L for broadband and we were told that it would cost an extra £7per month is this what they said to you? I haven't been with them a year yet so I can't threaten to leave lol

Re: Is there any plans of 2mb going to 4mb

3 for 30 with anything more than TV:L, BB:M, Phone:M is already a loyalty or "match Sky" discount, or originally it had TV:XL for a year in a 3 for 30, dropping to L after that.
