10Mb/s won't change your life but staying awake for the rest of the month might!

Take a deep breath and remember that this is only the internet and real life exists outside of your computer. Your upgrade will arrive eventually and wishing for it sooner will not speed the process up.

Oh no worries about downloading. Did a bit once but soon got bored of dodgy camcorder shot new movie releases. I do download music but pay for it. Dont do online gaming, in fact our net usage is fairly mundane I suppose. Just peed off that the net stalls for 5 - 10 mins every hour or so. hoping this upgrade sorts that out.

Re: 10mb Upgrade. How can I tell ?

I am in an area that has been done. When I do a speed test I still get 4MB, why is it not 10?

ANY ISSUES WITH THE BELOW? I get this on the config service :-

Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 10240000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 512000 bps

Downstream Receive Power Level : 4.34 dBmv
Downstream SNR : 35.33 dB
Upstream Transmit Power Level : 50.50 dBmv

Speed testTue, 15 Jul 2008 07:06:26 UTC

Test 1: 1024K took 2031 ms = 504.2 KB/sec, approx 4155 Kbps, 4.06 Mbps
Test 2: 1024K took 2000 ms = 512 KB/sec, approx 4219 Kbps, 4.12 Mbps
Test 3: 1024K took 2094 ms = 489 KB/sec, approx 4029 Kbps, 3.93 Mbps
Test 4: 2048K took 4156 ms = 492.8 KB/sec, approx 4061 Kbps, 3.97 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 4116 Kbps, 4.02 Mbps

Thanks for any help

You are on 10Mb already see above.

Have you tried going to this link to check your speeds http://gamefiles.virginmedia.com/

click on blueyondergames>demos>then click on at least 2 large files and run them wait a couple of minutes then write down the transfer rates on the files that are running> times them by 8 and you will get a truer download speed.

Re: 10mb Upgrade. How can I tell ?

Did two they stabalised at 260KB/SEC transfer rate.

Does this all mean I am still only getting 4MB, anyone else in the Luton area on 4MB L VM BB pack?

Thanks again

Re: 10mb Upgrade. How can I tell ?

Could anyone help with the above results. Sorry I am clueless!

Additionally I have a wired belkin router feeding my PC and Xbox 360. If I buy a laptop can I buy something to sent the net to the laptop via the router or the PC USB? Is this possible....as you can see I know nothing when it comes to PCs and the net

Cheers for all help

Call Virgin and ask for the wireless router, it's free for L and XL customers!
