Virgin Media, PS3 & Belkin Router

I have 20 MB BB, belkin N router and a ps3. Now the broadband is fine and I get the full 20 but the ps3 can be a little bit shaky. Yesterday it was fine, downloaded demos at correct speed, online was a little bit slower than usual but okay. Today, it refuses to connect and I have to go through to network settings and reset ti all (i have to do this like once evry day) to sign in. Now when downoading things it goes at a crawlingly slow rate (5 kbps) and refuses to let me join online games. I know its not the PS3 server as my mates are playing on it right now. I need to know what it is cos its really annoying.

Thanks guys,

p.s.im having it wired via ethernet into my room soon, maybe this will sort it out?

by the way, all my pcs (4) work fine with the broadband.

Re: Virgin Media, PS3 & Belkin Router

belkin and virgin media never got along with my 20mb connection and ps3, so i opted for the one they gave me for free the netgear wgr11uk. Now my ps3 never lags online in cod4 or fifa 08. Ruddock if you havent already maybe you should ring customer service and ask for one to be sent out to you for FREE.

Re: Virgin Media, PS3 & Belkin Router

Mate for the ps3 a G router is more than anough...for basic online gaming 2mb is quality and with 20mb on a G router, you will have no problem whatsoever. I suppose your N router will come in handy when the new 50mb is out lol.

Anyways I see you have vista ultimate and are a pc repair specialist, sorry to be off topic but im thinking of buying a new pc with a 1tb hard drive. But i always get confused with whether I should go with AMD Phenom or Intel Quad Core Proccessers, some people have said Intels Quad 6600 is way ahead of say Phenoms 9500. Also I dont understand how good the proccesser speed and fsb cache (i think) should be. Would you be kind enough to give me some insight on this topic.

p.s Has Vista sorted out its few bugs and has SP1 come out yet?

Re: Virgin Media, PS3 & Belkin Router

thanks for the advice mate. sp1 has come out and is pretty good. intel does run quite a bit faster than amd due to the fact that amd is more of the budget-side one of the two (intel is the speedy-side). Go with The Q6600, make sure you get plenty of RAM and use the highest frequency your motherboard can use. 1tb! :O i have 500 gb in my pc and not yet halfway filled it

by the way, all my pcs (4) work fine with the broadband.
I have the same set us, was fine when I had it installed in April but things are going down hill
I am only connectimng at 768 kbs (rather than the upto 20mb that I am paying for ) COD4 is a nightmare - lag, week signal and now my pc and laptop are on go slow

I have been told there is work in the area until oct 2008 !!!
Can i get out of the contract, I am certainly not receiving a service I am paying for

btw - my psn name sparky2005

ha yh maybe 1tb is too much, maybe ill go for one with 500gb for now and by the time the 500gb will be filled up, 2tb hard drives will be out and will be same price as 1tb now...cheers for advice tho and yh im going for 4gb ram

btw for the above user...try changing your wireless router channel. My router was originally on channel 11 and kept lagging and signing me out of psn, until some1 from gamespot recommended to change the channel to 6. give it a go...never know, apart from that im not much of help lol
