Re: Finally time to leave vm?
Happy about having to pay because virgin can't supply cable at my new address? No.
But I realise that it's cheaper for me to pay the adsl virgin charge than pay the disconnection fee so that's the only reason I'm doing it.

Although I am quite tempted to let them take me to court to get the disconnection fee as it wouldn't make my credit history any worse.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?
Sorry misread!
Didn't see that you put ADSL - yea i wouldn't be too chuffed about that either!
But as you said...the EDF's are somewhere in the region of £stupid...

No more VM services for me after the 16th of August. I've had to tell them to terminate my 20mb, I can't afford it anymore.

Did they offer you a better deal to keep it at all? Or did you only have broadband?

I only have BB, but they did try offering me a deal for £28 instead of £37.

That can't be smart?
ooo and by the way (before i forget) You may need to call up at some point to make sure that the EDF's are waivered when you take the beyond cable service.
I've seen instances of people going with beyond cable in order to have the EDF's waived...and then the charges don't get waived (in error) and VM end up passing the fees onto a debt collection agency anyway...
THAT gets on my tits...*rant over*

Still too pricey? Well if they're going to use that deal as a retention then you could always request 4/10mb @ £17 or 2mb @ £10 both deals are 12mths...
Just thought i'd throw it out there incase it helps

Re: Finally time to leave vm?
I got into serious debt when my eyes went bad so my credit rating is already completely screwed to be honest.
Anyway it was only a thought.
As for the waiving thing too right i'll be keeping an eye on it

Sorry to hear that! But yes to avoid further debt make sure you keep picking that phone up. I imagine receiving threatening letters/calls asking for money isn't pleasant.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?
I expect I'll stay with VM for my BB and telephone, but I've just about had it with their TV service, imo they have fallen so far behind Sky on channel selection, and add to that their woefull lack of HD I'm going over to Sky.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?
I'm very happy with speeds, don't care about traffic shaping as I download all my stuff overnight but the price is just too high now. £37 a month when I don't really need 20mbit. The 10mbit package at £25 is even overpriced for me. I could get the same speed and much higher upload (2.5mbit!) from Be. So soon as Sky send me my MAC code (I have free SkyBB) I'll be off to Be to test the waters there.

Good luck on VM ADSL it isnt a pleasent experience when there are much better companies out there that only use monthly contracts for ADSL.
I have been enjoying ADSL now for 5 months but not VM's
