Re: Finally time to leave vm?

I put "I'm staying". Most of what is discussed is based on what may or may not happen. A decision can be made when we have a more concrete reason. As for changing to Sky, that's another reason for me to stay put. I had more than enough problems with them. That's why I connected to cable all those years back.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

Im happy with my service *currently* and have been for the last 6yrs.
If Virgin Media go silly with this STM then I will seriously be looking at cancelling.

So take note VM

It's now active in 75% Of places with nottingham being done last week.

The rest will be done by the end of august.

So that's 10am-3pm and 4pm-9pm.

Really great service that

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

I didn't vote, as the choices are a little simplistic.

However, I am staying put... unless Virgin introduce Phorm, in which case I am off.

STM doesn't really affect me, but if it did, or if it does in the future, I will look at other providers.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

After being a steadfast NTL/Virgin M£dia customer for many years I have finally decided to jump after Virgin M£dia’s ruling over the scrutiny, capping & chastising of individuals for their internet activity’s the whole thing reek’s of corporate greed, this also reveals an oversold & struggling broadband product, Reading some posts from forum’s member’s horrendous experience trying to cancel or terminate VM services, could anyone suggest a tangible method to make sure the transition is less painless?
I am hoping to phone BT later this month and have my LAN line re-attached and my home number ported, I also read that BT subsidise the re-connection if a 18 month contract is signed, Is this true?

AgrimDivine

not sure about bt subsidising the re-connection fee you will have to speak to them and ask but i know that if you are switching to sky they will pay for the bt install (might be food for thought??)

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

I always vowed I would never run with SKY & Rupert Murdick, but nothing can be as bad as these VM shysters, I’ve got a gut feeling I’m part of a mass exodus,

You’re committing business suicide R Branson and your crony “FOOLS” at Virgin M£dia are making some appalling decisions

“What’s the use of having an so-called 20meg connection if you can do bu**er all with it”

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

Come August 16th, I'll no longer be with VM for any of their services. I phoned retentions this morning to terminate my broadband. They tried to keep hold of my custom by offering me my 20mb for £28 instead of £37. I told them I wasn't interested.

Re: Finally time to leave vm?

I've been with them since Cable Modem access first came to our area, Had their service at three houses and it's been more-or-less flawless the whole time.

I get a solid 20MBit (meter states 2300K/s) from sites like BT.com etc, I've had very few problems, and compared to the ADSL services that I manage for other people (with Be, nildram, Demon, Bulldog and for a while Zen) The service has been fantastic.

I would personally choose cable over an ADSL service if I could anytime. (None of the above are in cabled areas).

Depending on price and spec. I may well upgrade to the 50Mbit service whenever that happens.

I'm not too upset by the way they've handled phorm, since at least they haven't trialled it or stated that they are rolling it out. Lets face it, in such a big business everything needs to be looked into even if at the end of the day you decide against an idea. I have signed the petition at http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ispphorm .

I'm a heavy user, but not really upset by the STM thing either. My main use is for work purposes, but other people in the house use it for online gaming etc. I think at the moment the only thing that would make me leave is if VM started blocking services/ports that I use (SSH in/out, VPN etc.).

I got rid of the TV package a while back ,we decided to go to sky but im happy with the packages we got phone and 20 meg broadband as no isp can provide us with 20 meg where i live except virginmedia btw the grass isnt always greener on the other side as for the stm most isp will be doing it sooner or later
