Webstar Modem
I have just got a new PC which keeps crashing and it seems this is being caused by the modem. The 'blue screen' message seems to point to this, but according to the Virgin technical people, the modem is highly unlikely to be causing the problem. I have also run the PC for a full day without the modem connected and guess what - it didn't crash. Before I go back to Virgin, has anybody else had this problem and has anyone had any problems with their modem and Vista??

Post what modem you have and your power levels from your config pages of your modem.
Open a browser and in the address bar put> 192.168.100.1 password and username are both root if required.
DO NOT POST YOUR MAC ADDRESS OR SERIAL NUMBER

Re: Webstar Modem
The modem is connected to the router which then goes to the PC

Hardwired then via an ethernet cable then, so the PC is not wireless.

Thanks had to ask when you said you had a router, do you get the blue screen if connected direct to the modem without the router in place.

Re: Webstar Modem
Not yet. I have been bounced between the PC manufacturer and Virgin tech. each saying it is the other's fault. So I decided to disconnect the modem and router and discovered the PC works fine. As I also mentioned on the blue screen, (after sending this to the PC people), they confirmed that the modem was the cause of the fault. Is a CAT 5 cable likely to make a difference ?
