Virgin Media .. Do they really know what they are doing ??

Im on 4 mb broadband and currently im getting 1 meg speeds .. sometimes it can go to4 meg then just go back down on its own ..
Ive phoned tech support 3 times, and i was given 3 completely diff reasons
1. They had installed a new server and was having problems
2. Apparntly there is too much noise on the line some guy tried to techo babble me to death.
3. One of the connections is faulty in the system underground.

Yes my neighbours are fine ?
They havent said ive been capped or anything like that.
Its not traffic managment because im on 1 meg speeds now.

Ive emailed them which i think is no use what so ever .. fed up of ringing tech support .. was supposed to have a engineer come out tues but surprise surprise he never turned up.

So ive sent them a stern email see what happens ..
All in all poor service ..

You waste your time on emails.

See if you can get any sensible answers by posting on the support newsgroup.
virginmedia.support.broadband.cable
Be quick to catch someone before they all get made redundant.

Re: Virgin Media .. Do they really know what they are doing ??

I just took a look and saw this message:

Hi all,

This news server is now closed this means no new posts will be made
available on this server or any of it's aliases such as news.ntlworld.com,
news.virgin.net, news.cable.ntlworld.com, news.ntli.com etc

This is because we have migrated to a new binary news server
news.virginmedia.com The new binary server offers many more groups, allows
unlimited connections and articles are kept for longer. Please create a new
account in your news reader pointing to news.virginmedia.com now.

How do I set it up?

If you're an Outlook Express user, follow the instructions at
http://www.virginmedia.com/customers...ress-exntl.php
but at step 6 enter news.virginmedia.com instead of the old server name.
Remember that you can only access the service when you're on a Virgin Media
Internet connection.

Please ensure that you DO NOT enter any username and password details
for this server. This would prevent you from accessing the server.

If you have problems

If you have any issues please connect to the news text server
text.news.virginmedia.com and post to the virginmedia.support.usenet group

What's happening to the Text server?

At this point we're not making any changes to the text server and it will
continue to be available at text.news.virginmedia.com

what? will become famous soon enough
Re: Virgin Media .. Do they really know what they are doing ??

if a tech failed to arrive the timeslot agreed to between you and vm then they owe you a £10 credit. as they would charge you for failing to be in.
so make sure you call cs and get that credited applied.
also, if you speak to them again, get the fault reference numbher and me or one of the other techs on here can have a check up and find out exactly what the issue is.

Fair enough BUT as I had only just started to browse the forum AND I was still browsing in my 'user cp/new subscribed threads' I was quite unaware of just what was appearing on a forum page that I had not yet visited. If I had been then of course I would have referred crosseh to a link.

Anyway, end of, this topic is OT in a thread that was about helping crosseh with his issue.
