Internet Connection Issues

I cannot/have limited internet connection when connecting to the internet without going through my work VPN.
I have 3 laptops in the house and they all behave the same with different versions of Explorere. We recently we had a power cut and the wireless router and modem got turned off.
I've since reset and rebooted then numerous times. My skype still works fine without the VPN. Occasional connectivity issues exist on Outlook though.

This issue has been ongoing for a week now.
I'm in the NE5 region.
I'm a former blueyonder customer
I'm using a Netgear 614v4 wireless router and have a webstar modem

I'm looking for suggestions on what to test or check.

Many thanks

Re: Internet Connection Issues

First thing that I'd try is connecting a laptop directly to the cable modem.
If that works, then you'll know the problem lies with your router.
If it doesn't work, cut'n'paste the details from the modem config page and helpful folk will try to spot what's wrong.

You find lots of helpful information and advice at Annie's excellent Broadband FAQ.

Re: Internet Connection Issues

In the newsgroup a recommendedation of using a Proxy Server of
webcache.virginmedia.com Port 3126 was made.
I've used it and my connection seems to be working.

Thanks
