Virginmedia - Urgent Help Required!

Ok right, i have a very big problem with my cable modem, my internet goes off randomly and disconnects i am on the 20meg service and use the WEBSTAR EPC2100 Cable Modem

I checked the frequency mode and it is set to telewest frequency 33100000 or something like that but yeah its set correct.

The cable light will go off completely the blink about 3 times then stop blinking and stop, thats it nothing.. no internet, cable gone off.

Then i check my tv and the 2nd light down is blinking on and off repeatidly and i have NO ON DEMAND SERVICES available, even help and info says its unavailable. even movies, music on demand is unavailable...

I checked ALL CABLE WIRES, i had a look at the grey box outside with the splitter, all connected nice and firmly.

I phoned up virgin they sent at a technician for monday.
But i really need internet and what the hell is going on??

I can't find a conclusion or what is causin the problem, i tried disconnecting the tv and trying to get broadband on only, i tried disconnecting broadband and trying to get the on demand working on tv.. still no luck.

Its working now my internet but yesterday and the day before that it went off for the whole day!

And what funny is it came back at the same time at 6:00 on the night for both of those days...

Weird... what is going on can someone please help me what to do next.

PS. How do i set the upstream frequency on a webstar epc2100, that is set incorrect when it goes off, i can change the downstream on 192.168.100.1/gscan.asp but i cant find the upstream area to set that, any ideas? because the frequency is set incorrect when it goes off and the information in the status says 'UPSTREAM PARAMETERS AQUIRED'

Any help appreciated!

Re: Virginmedia - Urgant Help Required!

If your TV light, and the modem are experiencing issues then chances are there is a fault with the signal strength you are receiving from the street. That may be due to all sorts of issues. You'll need to wait for the engineer to arrive and diagnose. You really shouldn't be attempting to mess with the modem settings.

In addition to what Rob has said, messing with the settings and the tech notices this when he visits, he may conclude that you messing with the settings, is the cause of the fault and you may get charged for the engineer call out.

Hey, just in interest could the splitter outside on the wall for tv and broadband cause a weak signal? to the broadband and tv box? If it is causing a weak signal then im guessing its dodgy and will need replacing, i will tell the technician to replace it for me when he comes round thats if any experts here can agree.

That is what my problem turned out to be when I experienced the same problems as you are having.
